The Craftsman Style of Architecture
Museum District in Houston, Texas
The Craftsman style of architecture
is typified by certain features: low pitched gable roofs with deep
overhands, wide eaves with exposed rafters and decorative braces,
porches with square columns, 1920s period color schemes, combinations of
plaster, lap siding, and cedar shingle exteriors, and high ceilings.
The style represents structural simplicity,
the efficient use of space, and understated style. It is a style
that is predominant in Houston's Museum District, chosen by CitiPlex for
the Stanford Oaks project in keeping with this predominant neighborhood
style.
Photos above and below illustrates the
Craftsman style that will be used in the Stanford Oaks project.
